Science - investigating materials

Today we followed instructions to create a paper cup.

Then we went outside and investigated how long we could keep snow and water in our cups.

Today we have been investigating which materials are most suitable for fixing a hole in a bucket.

We worked with our friends to try and fix the broken cup with one material only.

Then we tested them by pouring water in them over our heads.

We used an umbrella just in case.

We found out that the sponge, the rice and the cotton wool were really good at absorbing the water.  The blue tac worked well too as it was strong and waterproof.

It was a good job we used the umbrella as some of the materials didn’t have the correct properties for fixing a hole.
