At the beginning of the week we started reading Stone Age Boy and discussing the story.
We discussed the meeting between the two characters and why they acted the way they did.
We then acted out the scene from the book in pairs. Miss Bryan got some excellent freeze frames and was particularly impresed with how well we worked together, with children we don't generally work with.
Check out our acting skills:
We explored different styles of Christian music.
We listened to taize music (The singing of distinctive and much-repeated prayer chants during candlelit prayer services is one of its trademarks. Taizé music highlights simple phrases, usually lines from the Psalms or other pieces of scripture, repeated or sung in canon. The repetition is designed to help meditation and prayer).
We also listened to a more modern style of Christian music. The children stated that the lyrics were clearer and they were able to hear the words in the songs easier. They said that both syles of music were calming and made them feel good.
Can Celebrities be Role Models?
We explored various questions relating to this main question and we had some interesting debates!
Continuing with the topic of emails, we discussed the dangers we can face when using email. We listened to some different scenarios and tips for staying safe when emailing.
The children then sorted some different statements into 'safe' and 'unsafe' categories.
The children then received an email from a boy called John who asked for advice. They had to think about John's dilemma and send him some advice on what to do.
At the end of our computing lesson we logged into TT Rockstars and tested our times table knowledge. We are getting better every week! Keep it up Year 3!
We are continuing to explore the question:
What was life like for people in the Stone Age?
This week we have been researching the food they ate and where they lived.
Here are some pictures of us in action:
We have been practising for our J Factor auditions this week.
Auditions will take place Friday 25th January.
Stop Everything and Read
We are continuing with our class novel of David Walliam's 'Billionaire Boy'.
We are now over half way through and each day we try to SEAR to find out what's happening to Joe Spud.
At the minute he is mortified that his dad turned up in his helicopter at school. He really didn't want the children to know that he is super rich!
