We had our first PE lesson in the hall today and we started our new unit on Gymnastics. The children worked in groups to create group balances, focusing on keeping straight lines and holding their muscles tight to hold the balance. They did a fantastic job!
Today, we learned about the function of blood. We learned about red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma. We also created our own representations of blood using raspberries, marshmallows, sprinkles and pineapple juice.
In maths, we used arrays to investigate factors of numbers.
History - outdoor learning
We headed outside today to find facts and information about 5 of the Ancient Maya gods. We noted down the information and then ranked the gods from most to least important, giving justifications for our decisions. Our big question for history this time is: How were the Ancient Maya different to us? One of the differences we found out today was that they believed in lots of different Gods for different things whereas in Christianity, we believe in one main God who controls all things.
History - the Ancient Maya
Today, we researched Ancient Maya society and found out all about the social structure. We used the information to help us to decide who we’d like to be if we were Ancient Maya people and then wrote a diary with lots of historical information.
We have started a new unit for RE which is all about exploring how we can change the world. First we discussed questions we have about the world and the things we’d like to change. After that, we split into small groups to explore one questions each and do some research.
Science - outdoor learning
Today, we went outside to collect and order cards to explain how blood travels around our body. There was some great teamwork! We then acted out the circulatory system. Check out these videos!
Guided Reading - Beetle Boy 🪲
We have been reading Beetle Boy in Year 6 and today, we drew what we thought the beetle looks like. We added labels to show the evidence we found from the text.
