Our hedgehog habitat challenge
As part of our science topic on habitats we worked in small groups to design and create a hedgehog habitat from a range natural resources available to us. We had to work as a team and compromise to make a hibernation habitat fit for our 'hedgehogs'! Well done to the team who managed to keep Harriet the Hedgehog the warmest!
We have been recording our own weather forecasts as part of our geography work so look out for these after half term!
We had two new 'teachers' in our RE class this week! Muhammed-Yusuf and Saif described why the mosque is a special place to them and answered questions from the children. It was really interesting comparing the similarities and differences between the church and the mosque.
During our outdoor learning day we created a new Year 2 reflection area. Although the weather wasn't very kind to us we had a lovely time! We all made a prayer stone and enjoyed spending time outside.
We are taking part in a Royal Mail Competition and enjoyed designing own our stamp linked to Hero's. Fingers crossed!
Position and movement has been our new focus in math's this week and we have been using our outdoor learning sessions to give instructions using left and right directions. We had great fun in creative worship this week too where we worked in groups to think about the qualities of a disciple.
Rev Alice welcomed us into church this week. We learned about why the church is so special to Christians and enjoyed asking Rev Alice lots of questions to find out more information!
We have used a selection of Sir David Attenborough's film clips during our comprehension sessions this week which the children have thoroughly enjoyed. We have been focusing on our speaking and listening skills and what oracy looks like in year 2. The children are starting to become more confident speakers and it is lovely to see the children getting engrossed in whole class discussions!
As always the Bank Holiday week went very quickly and it was Friday before we knew it! We have designed and created our own relief prints in our Printing topic in art and enjoyed using them to create repeating patterns. We used our acting skills to prepare us for writing our own diary entry as Sunny and enjoyed keeping our own weather diary.
We have started our new unit on length and measure this week and the children have enjoyed exploring this practical topic. We have explored different hot and cold places and had fun competing in a table quiz. Well done to the 'Red Scorpions!'.
We have started our habitat powerpoint presentations and can't wait to complete them next week! Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and thank you to those who returned book bags today. We will be sending the children home with new books on Tuesday.
Week 2 …….. and the sun continues to shine!
What another lovely sunny week. The children have enjoyed investigating different microhabitats and found a variety of minibeasts during our outdoor learning session. In RE we are starting to look at why the church is so special to Christians and the children had fun creating their own special places outside! We've enjoyed learning about the rainforest and have written some super setting descriptions!

We enjoyed making our own playdoh animals as part of our new science topic 'Living things and their habitats' and worked with our friends to sort objects into groups using 'MRS GREN'!
We learned how to sign the 'Friendship song' in Music and used the internet to research the weather in different parts of the UK this week as part of our Computing / Geography work.
We took advantage of the sunshine this week and took our PSHE lesson outside. The children were awesome at encouraging and motivating each other to keep on going whilst we learned the importance of encouragement and being our best.!
