Week 1 - (13th June - 17th June)

Guided Reading

This week it was great to get back to school after the holidays and we are enjoying our 'Under the Sea' topic.

In Guided Reading, we have read Julia Donaldson's 'The Snail and the Whale'. We have come up with our actions for the new vocabulary words, enjoyed copycat reading and answering questions about the book.

Before we read the story we discussed this image and afterwards we were excited to see what the story would be about.

As a treat on Friday, we watched BBC's version of the Snail and the Whale and discussed the differences between the film and the book.

Maths

This week in maths we have been learning all about doubling. We have played double barrier games, dominoes and dice games. The children have been really good at recalling doubles of numbers to six really fast.

PE

This week we continued our ball skills unit and had great fun in the process.
Within our warm up activities the children are moving around more confidently and displaying more skill.
It's nice to see the excitement when we go through to the hall for PE!
This week we were controlling different sized balls with different parts of our bodies and we enjoyed relay races, controlling balls in our groups.
