This week has been a busy one in Year 6!
Rehearsals for our end of year production are well underway; all the parts have been cast and we are already gathering costumes and props. If you think you have anything that could be useful, we would really appreciate your help! Please help your child to practise their lines at home.
In English, we have been writing explanation texts linked to our novel: Kensuke's Kingdom. After an exciting lesson on Monday, where the children ventured out onto the field to make shelters, we researched how to survive on a desert island. Now, the children are planning an independent explanation text, which they are writing for year 5 - 'How to survive Year 6!'.
In our topic lessons, we are learning more about the Shang Dynasty. This week, we focused on their use of bronze and how they were some of the first to use the 'piece mold technique' to create the bronze artefacts we see today. The children imagined what it would be like to work as a bronze caster (also known as artisans) and wrote job adverts persuading people to apply. Do you think you'd be a good bronze caster? Look out on the Year 6 work page to see if your job advert has made it onto the website!
We have also been spending time reflecting on our memories throughout our time at school. We are getting our thoughts and plans together for our Leavers Service.
