This week in English, we have started reading our class text for this half term: Stone Age Boy. The children were read the first page and shown some items: spears and tools, leather and fur, string and an outfit made from animal fur. They had to guess what the book is going to be about and then we generated some questions about the items. We continued reading a few pages, adding to a class KWL grid and also creating notes about the characters, settings and events. When we came across vocabulary we didn't understand, we practised our dictionary skills to find out the meaning!
In Maths we have continued looking at place value. The children LOVED our outdoor learning, where they found and answered questions hidden across the playground. Inside, we went through the answers and the children practised using their green pens to self mark and correct their work.
We began to look at our topic work too this week. The children discussed their existing knowledge on both the Stone Age and rocks and soils. They were very excited to see the picture of the craggy face in the cliffs of Devon!
In Art, the children have been researching the sculptor Claes Oldenburg. They recreated his work and made some amazing pizza sculptures. You can see them hanging in our class window. They look good enough to eat!
Thank you for another amazing week Year 3. We have really cracked on with our learning this week and you have had to really concentrate which is hard after so long off school!
