Week 3 (w/c Monday 17th January)

Rolling & Sending

Phonics

This week we have started Phase 3 in phonics. Here are this week's sounds:

PSHE (PSED)

This week we had a lovely discussion about keeping ourselves safe.
We began by discussing the things that can be unsafe in our classroom, our homes and outside and then learnt ways that we can stay safe.

We joined Harold the Giraffe who had become a safety detective for the day in his house. Can you remember some of the things he found in his house that could be unsafe and how we can keep safe?

(Inside: pan, kettle, plug sockets, bath, wet floor, matches, hot taps)

(Outside: poisonous plants, nettles, barbed wire, broken glass)

Literacy

Lost and Found

This week we have been reading the story 'Lost and Found', linking to our Antarctic theme.

Each day we have read a little more of the story, making predictions about what might happen next. We have also been thinking about what we would do if we were the boy.

In the story, the boy used a book to find out some information about penguins and we did the same. We found out lots of interesting facts about Emperor penguins.
