Week 4

Worship

Today in worship, we looked the importance of foundations. We talked about Jesus said that when we’re listening to his words about how to live our lives, we’re being like the wise builder: building our lives on the rock. Just as a house needs firm foundations, so do our lives. Christians believe that God can help us to build good foundations.

English

In English we have been hooked and engaged with our class read - Fantastic Frankie & The Brain Drain Machine.

The class wouldn't let me stop reading until we got to the end. We had gasps and predictions the whole way through. We definitely enjoyed this book and it has helped to develop our love of reading even more.

Here are the children giving it a score out of 10. As you can see, there were tens all around.

English - 10 out of 10 for Fantastic Frankie

Geography - Ordnance Survey Maps and Grid References

Mrs Tindall is so impressed with Year 5's Geography work this half term.

The children had to look at reading OS maps. Then they had to look at symbols and understand them using the Key. From this they had to produce a grid reference drawing that was accurate to show the part of the River Axe that they had.

They all did an amazing job.

Science Week

This week we have taken part In Science Week. We made spaghetti towers by working on our growth mindset. Most groups Improved when they changed their mindsets.

We then spent the morning researching the first black female astronaut - Mae Jemison. We created an exhibition and then shared this with the whole school.
