Chinese New Year
This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year.
We learnt that it is celebrated in January or February each year (depending on the moon).
To get ready for Chinese New Year, Chinese people spring clean their houses and gardens to sweep away any bad luck. Their houses are decorated with paper scrolls and lanterns with good luck messages on them.
We made our own lanterns and decorated them.
Eating Chinese Food
On Friday afternoon we had some duck spring rolls and prawn crackers to end our Chinese New Year week. Some of the children weren't too keen on the spring rolls but had a try. The prawn crackers went down well!
Number of the Week
This week our number of the week was number 7. We loved meeting NumberBlock number 7, the rainbow number! We made our own NumberBlock 7's.
Writing Numbers
We also practised writing numbers six and seven using our rhymes. We also had a go in Chinese too!
