Week 6

Week 6

This week has been our first week back at school after our bubble closure. The children were so excited to be back and I was extremely pleased to see all the lovely, smiling faces back together in class.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were jam-packed with activities and preparation for our school Christmas video. The plan had been to spread this out over two weeks, but covid 19 had other ideas! The children coped really well and in just three days we managed to: explore shape poems, create examples of alliteration, similes and personification relating to light, plan and write our own shape poems about light, film our glow in the dark poems, practise and record a signed version of Silent Night, explore interview questions about the nativity, eat a yummy Christmas dinner and have our Christmas party! Phew!!!

On Thursday, the children became artists and explored different shading techniques: stippling, hatching and cross-hatching. We practised the techniques and then used them in drawings of objects. I was absolutely blown away by the children's focus and engagement with the lesson and the sketchbooks look great. We talked a lot about using our sketchbook to showcase our improvements and art journey, rather than a set of perfect drawings.

We have started to rewrite the fable 'The Tortoise and The Hare' in English and we have also recapped dividing by 2, 5 and 10 in maths.

To say this week has been busy is an understatement! The children have coped so well being back in school and I couldn't be prouder of how they have all embraced the changes and challenges which have been thrown at us this half term.

Thank you for being so wonderful Year 3!
