Week 6

What we've been up to this week...

Our last week of this half term has been a busy one!

It has been Stay Safe Week this week, as well as Mental Health Week. On Monday, we had a visitor in class from NEST Lancashire to talk about types of bullying and what we should do if we experience this. The children were really mature and practised saying 'Say NO to bullying!' with hand actions. We also had a session in class, based around a video by the NSPCC about abuse and how to stay safe. We looked at the Childline website as, along with being somewhere to turn for 1:1 advice, it is full of activities, games and information to support managing all sorts of worries and maintain healthy mental wellbeing. I would urge you to explore this website at home as there's some really useful stuff on there. Here is the link. I have been really impressed with how maturely the children have tackled our conversations surrounding staying safe this week.

In maths we have been looking at money, recapping counting pence and counting pounds, then moving on to counting pounds and pence together.

We have enjoyed another Spanish lesson this week, working on our numbers. We play some very competitive games during Spanish and we get very giddy!

In English we finished our mystery and adventure unit by writing an independent bonus chapter, where the baddies discover their stolen animal is missing! We have also explored persuasion letters, analysing the features of these and creating our own letter. Our letter incorporated our history learning and was to persuade the chief of our village to start using bronze instead of stone and flint.

Have a wonderful half term everybody!!!
