Week 3

🎶 Baroque Brilliance in Year 6! 🎶

We have had a wonderful time exploring the wonders of the Baroque period in music! Our Year 6 musicians have been diving deep into the world of canons, starting with the timeless Canon in D by Pachelbel.

It was fascinating for the children to discover how this famous piece of music has influenced so many songs they know and love today, including All Together Now and Maroon 5’s Memories. The class loved the Maroon 5 track so much that we decided to tackle the iconic intro ourselves! They did a fantastic job learning the melody on the glockenspiels—the classroom was filled with such beautiful music. 🎵✨

But the creativity didn't stop there! We moved on to learn about ground bass, a signature technique of the Baroque era. Working in pairs, the children composed their very own ground bass patterns. Many even took on the extra challenge of writing their melodies using formal ground bass notation!

We are so proud of their hard work, focus, and musical development this term. Keep up the amazing work, Year 6!
