Snapshot of Learning this Week

This half term in DT, we will be making our very own smoothies! 🥤

This week, we learnt some important cooking skills:
🔪 How to safely cut using a table knife
🍋 How to juice using a manual juicer

The children were incredibly sensible when using the equipment and showed some fantastic skills. Miss Bryan and Miss Mack were blown away!

There were definitely some funny faces when tasting the lemons and limes!

Of course, the best part was enjoying the delicious fruit after chopping!

This week in Geography, Year 1 have been learning about where we live in the world. Using atlases and world maps, the children explored the different continents and began to understand how the world is organised.

They learnt that we live in Europe and discovered that the world is made up of seven continents. The children then located Asia, the largest continent, and found the country of China, which we will be learning more about.

The children enjoyed using atlases to:

Find and label the United Kingdom

Locate Europe and Asia

Identify where China is in the world

The children thought about how we might travel to China and discovered that the best way would be by aeroplane ✈️
