Week 1

We have had an incredibly busy, productive, and exciting week in Year 6! Here is a snapshot of what we’ve been up to:

  • Creative Authors: In English, we used the eerie short film Alma as inspiration for our writing. The children wrote their own thrilling versions of the story, introducing a brand-new friend for Alma. We focused heavily on using dialogue to advance the action and reveal character personality. The children then worked brilliantly with partners to edit, improve, and polish their spelling and punctuation. โœ๏ธ

  • Shining a Light on Science: We launched our brand-new Science unit all about light. To kick things off, we conducted two hands-on investigations: one exploring how light travels, and another testing how reflective different materials are. ๐Ÿ”ฆ

  • Theatre Trip & Showstoppers: On Wednesday, we took a fantastic trip to the Palace Theatre, Manchester to watch a spectacular performance of Annie. It was an amazing experience and gave us a huge burst of inspiration for our own upcoming end-of-year production, Aladdin! ๐ŸŽญ

Production Notice: Rehearsals have officially begun! All parts have now been handed out, and the children are already busy memorising their lines and song lyrics. We can’t wait to keep practising and put on the best show ever! Please help your child practice their lines at home this week. ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ†
