Snapshot of our learning this week

Ready to Write

This week we enjoyed our 5th week of our ready to write activities.

Year 1 wowed Miss Bryan and Miss Harry with their strong bodies exercises and then their clever fingers work before showing themselves as confident writers.

PSHE

In PSHE, Year 1 have been exploring what might make us feel worried, annoyed or upset. The children discussed these feelings and considered how facial expressions and body language can help us recognise how someone else might be feeling.

Through a ‘feelings rainbow’ activity, the children thought about situations that can cause uncomfortable feelings and shared ideas about what might help them feel better. These included taking deep breaths, enjoying a calming activity, having some quiet time and talking to a trusted adult.

We reminded the children that all feelings are normal and that different people may feel differently in the same situation. Our learning is helping the children to name their emotions, understand others and recognise when to ask for support.
