Science
Our Year 5 pupils had an exciting hands-on afternoon investigating solubility. Working in groups, the children planned and conducted experiments to test how temperature or stirring affects the speed at which salt dissolves. They applied their scientific knowledge to make predictions, record results, and draw thoughtful conclusions. A special shout-out to Aubrey for giving a fantastic explanation of how salt and water particles behave during dissolving!
English
This week, Year 5 have been channeling their inner astronauts as they drafted mission logs for NASA detailing their journeys to the Moon. The children worked hard to maintain a formal tone, using technical vocabulary, modal verbs, and brackets for parenthesis to describe their launch, flight, and lunar tasks. To finish the unit, students carefully edited and double-checked their work before typing up their drafts for a published class book, enhancing their final pieces with photographs and illustrations.
Maths
In Maths, the class has been exploring multiples and factors. Using hands-on concrete resources, pupils are building visual models to deepen their understanding of how numbers connect and divide.
