    πŸ“š English

We explored our new text, FaRther, placing a strong focus on expanding our vocabulary. Using our rich new word choices, we wrote stunning personification poems inspired by a calm sea. Mrs Bibby was extremely impressed with everyone's efforts—especially our handwriting presentation, ambitious vocabulary choices, and accurate spelling!

    πŸ”’ Maths

We kicked off our brand-new topic on fractions! We started by exploring equivalent fractions, drawing clear visual bar models in our books and making links directly to our times-table knowledge. We then built on this foundation to explore improper fractions and mixed numbers.

    πŸ’ƒ PE (Dance)

In Dance, we took inspiration from New Year's Eve firework displays and listened to Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks. Working in small groups, we created our own energetic firework motifs and assembled them into complete routines, focusing carefully on formations and cannons. Everyone did a fantastic job performing their routines for the class!

    🌹 History

We learned about Remembrance Day with a special focus on the crucial impact of volunteers during the World War II war effort. After exploring the different roles people took on and reflecting on why they chose to volunteer, we designed custom certificates to celebrate their achievements and spent quiet time reflecting on remembrance.

    πŸ§ͺ Science

This week in Science, we investigated evaporation through a desert island survival scenario: finding pure, safe drinking water! We set up a test with two water samples to observe what remained after evaporation. The salt water sample left distinct salt crystals behind, whereas the pure water sample left nothing, showing us clearly which one would be safe to drink.
