Another busy week in Year 1!
In Maths, we have been learning about place value within 50. The children have been exploring numbers using number lines and practising finding one more and one less than a given number.
In English, we have started planning and writing our return story based on Where the Wild Things Are.
In Science, the children investigated materials and began designing and building a waterproof structure, thinking carefully about which materials would keep water out and why roofs need to be waterproof.
In Music, we explored pitch, learning how sounds can be high or low and creating simple patterns using two different pitches.
In PE, the children developed their sending and receiving skills, practising how to track and collect a rolling ball while working with a partner.
For World Book Day, the children loved dressing up as a word. We had a very busy and exciting day, including spending time reading with our buddies in the hall. We also explored the book The Children Who Loved Books and thought about what we would choose to fill our house with. We even had a fabulous puppet show with Miss Scholfield when Reception class visited Year 1!
Our Enrichment Afternoon was also a great success. The children really enjoyed taking part in the different activities around school and loved sharing what they had done at the end of the day.
We all looked fabulous dressed up as our words!
