Active Maths Fun in Year 1! 🏃‍♀️🔢

Year 1 had a fantastic time taking part in an Active Maths lesson this week! The children combined their maths skills with lots of physical activity as they completed a range of timed challenges, including star jumps, frog jumps, hops and ball bounces.

Before each activity, the children made predictions about how many they thought they could complete in one minute. They then worked with partners to count and record their results before comparing them with their estimates.

The lesson provided lots of opportunities to use mathematical language such as more than, less than, equal to, most and least. The children also explored the difference between their estimates and actual scores, helping them to develop their understanding of number in a fun and engaging way.

It was wonderful to see everyone working collaboratively, encouraging one another and enjoying maths through movement. Well done, Year 1! 🌟📊🏃‍♂️
