It has been another action-packed and milestone week for Year 6! From exploring our local streets to preparing for the future, the children have given 100% to everything they've done.

Here is what we have been up to:

🗺️ Geography: Fieldwork and Community Voices

With the heatwave finally behind us, we were able to lace up our walking shoes and complete our exciting geography fieldwork project! The children took a walk around the local area to investigate the impact of graffiti on our community. A real highlight was speaking directly to a local shopkeeper to find out firsthand how graffiti affects businesses. After identifying and mapping the graffiti during our walk, we returned to the classroom to report and analyse our findings like true sociologists.

⚡ Science: Powering Up!

This week, we switched on our brains for a brand-new unit on Electricity. We started by recapping the official scientific symbols used in circuit diagrams before getting hands-on. The classroom was buzzing (literally!) as the children explored how to create working circuits using lamps, buzzers, and motors. They also turned into troubleshooters to figure out how to fix broken circuits. To push their scientific skills further, they designed a comparative test to investigate exactly how changing the voltage affects the brightness of a bulb.

🚀 High School Transition Days

It was an incredibly exciting (and perhaps a little nerve-wracking!) week as our Year 6s headed off for their high school transition days. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to experience a taste of secondary school life, meet new teachers, and make new friends. We are so proud of how maturely they handled this big step—they are truly ready for their next adventure!
