π¬ Science: Testing Material Properties
We put different materials to the test! By scratching various items with a coin or a nail, we investigated their hardness to see if they could be damaged. This hands-on experiment is helping us build a deeper understanding of material properties and why specific materials are chosen to make everyday products.
French: Body Parts and Monsters
We explored how to describe body parts in French and had a great time singing Heads, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes in French! After matching French monster descriptions to pictures, we put our new vocabulary to work by writing our very own creative monster descriptions.
π΅ Music: Sea Shanties and Cup Rhythms
Continuing our journey into sea shanties, we practised singing What Shall We Do with the Drunken Sailor?, layering harmonies and singing in groups to add dynamic texture to the song. We also incorporated cups to keep a beat, focusing on staying in perfect time with the music.
π PE: Finding Space and Tactical Passing
We developed our game tactics by focusing on movement and space! The class practised looking for open spaces and sprinting into them to receive successful passes. Working in smaller groups, we challenged ourselves to bypass defenders and deliver the ball into the end zone.
π§ PSHE: Active Living and Mindfulness
We discussed the importance of staying active for both our bodies and minds. We started with a guided mindfulness body scan to reflect on how our bodies felt, then learned about gentle, moderate, and vigorous activity levels. In our Kagan groups, we sorted different exercises and discussed how each type helps build endurance, promote relaxation, or support strong bones and muscles.
π οΈ DT: Electrical Systems and Doodlers
We have been learning how to use electrical systems to power products with motors! Specifically, we explored "doodlers"—clever devices designed to draw automatically on a page. The children showed fantastic perseverance as they problem-solved their way through building their doodlers, and there was so much excitement when they successfully got them up and running!
