Year 6 – A Wonderful Week of Learning and Fun

What a wonderful week we have had in Year 6! We have continued to learn, explore and have lots of fun together.

    Investigating Mould Growth
Our bread experiment has continued! We have been carefully observing our slices of bread and thinking scientifically about the factors that might affect mould growth. The children have been making observations, comparing results and developing their understanding of how scientists carry out fair tests.

A Trip to the Library with Our Year 1 Buddies
We had a lovely time visiting the library with our Year 1 buddies. It was great fun sharing books together, talking about our favourite stories and enjoying lots of wonderful discussions. The Year 6 children were fantastic role models and really enjoyed spending time with their younger buddies.

    Celebrating European Languages Day
We have also enjoyed celebrating European Languages Day. We spent time exploring Portuguese, learning some new words and discovering more about the language and culture. It was also wonderful to hear the children sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for other languages, including Malayalam, Polish, Urdu and Konkani. What a fantastic celebration of the many languages spoken in our school community!

    A Taste of Portugal!
To finish our language and culture celebrations, we made and enjoyed a delicious Portuguese cake called Bolo de Bolacha. The children had great fun making it – and even more fun tasting it! It was a fantastic opportunity to connect our language learning with Portuguese culture and cuisine.

Well done, Year 6, for another fantastic week of learning, curiosity and collaboration. ⭐
