Ready to Write

This week in Ready to Write, we strengthened our bodies, fingers and handwriting. We practised rocket jumps, stretches, twists and ball rolling to develop posture, balance and coordination. For our finger skills, we tried finger taps, finger waves and picking up pom-poms with tweezers.

We then practised upper case and lower case letters, wrote stamp, blend and frost, and finished with the sentence: “The wind swept past.”

 Art

This week in art, we started our new drawing unit, Exploring line and shape. We have been experimenting with all the different kinds of lines we can make – straight, curved, zigzag, wavy, thick and thin – and noticing how lines join together to create shapes. We tried out different drawing materials to see what marks each one makes, and talked about which we liked best and why. It has been lovely to see everyone growing in confidence, taking their time and looking carefully at the lines and shapes in the world around us. We are so proud of our fantastic artwork!
