We have had a busy and exciting week in class, full of fantastic learning and opportunities to showcase our talents. Here is a snapshot of what we have been up to across the curriculum.
This week in Maths, we have been tackling some tricky algebra problems. Everyone has worked extremely hard and shown a strong growth mindset when faced with challenges. We have been solving equations and using bar models to help us understand the steps needed to reach the correct answers.
In English, we have been analysing explanation texts in preparation for writing our own, which will focus on animal adaptations. We explored key features of explanation texts, including technical vocabulary, the use of colons to introduce lists, and brackets to add extra detail.
In History, we learned about how women’s roles changed during World War Two. We explored a range of sources and discussed which we found most and least useful. Many of us felt that first-hand accounts from women who lived through the war were the most valuable, while also recognising that experiences and viewpoints differed.
In Art, we began planning our final street art pieces, each linked to a message we would like to share with the world. We are excited to start adding colour, shading and tone next week using a variety of techniques to bring our designs to life.
We also had the J Factor auditions, which were a real highlight of the week. We loved watching and performing and are already looking forward to the finals after half term!
