What a fantastic first week back! The children have enjoyed the launch of our new English text - The Extraordinary Gardener. We looked at some instructions on how to grow a big, beautiful tree. We explored the vocab and also did a quiz to test our understanding of the text.

We have started to explore our new topic - insects and plants. We have been hunting for bugs and moving them into our bug hotel, which we have been building together. We used some bug books to work out what bugs we had found – including a snake millipede! We have loved the new role play area - a florists - where we have been crafting our our flowers and also making artificial flower arrangements. 

In maths we have been counting time, actions and sounds, as well as counting larger quantities when subitising is not appropriate. We discussed strategies such as moving objects, lining them up or crossing them out to ensure accurate counting.
