An Incredible Week of Learning and Resilience!

I am absolutely bursting with pride as I reflect on our mock SATs week. The children have truly blown us away with their outstanding efforts and unwavering positivity. It was wonderful to see them applying their classroom learning so effectively, but even more impressive was their maturity; they utilized mindfulness techniques to stay calm under pressure and tackled every paper with a "can-do" attitude. With these excellent results under our belts, we are heading toward May with a real sense of confidence and readiness!

    Exploration, Geometry, and History

Beyond our assessments, we’ve dived into some fascinating new topics:

    • English: We have embarked on a frozen adventure following Ernest Shackleton’s expedition on the HMS Endurance. We’ve explored the ship’s perilous journey through the Weddell Sea and its eventual destruction by the crushing ice. Soon, we’ll be stepping into the shoes of the crew to write powerful perspectives—ranging from the excitement of training sled dogs to the tension of evacuating the flooding ship.

    • Maths: We have been sharpening our geometry skills by calculating missing angles. The children are becoming experts at solving problems involving angles on a straight line, around a point, and within triangles.

    • History: We began an insightful unit on the Sikh Empire. After locating the Punjab region, we built a timeline of key events and studied the inspiring life and leadership qualities of Ranjit Singh.

    Mindfulness and Movement

In PE, we had a fantastic start to our sessions with The Yogi Group. It was the perfect antidote to a busy week! The children approached the session with such open minds, challenging their strength and flexibility through various poses. We ended the lesson with a peaceful Shavasana, leaving the entire class feeling centred, relaxed, and refreshed. Well done, everyone!
