Autumn 2

Week 7 - Our final week of this half-term has been absolutely jam packed. Alongside all the fun Christmas activities, we have been completing our DT projects trying to make a chair can hold baby bear, writing diaries linked to our text ‘The Night Gardener’ and enjoying our half-term visit to the library. We’ve had a fantastic first term in Year 2.

Week 6 - This week the children enjoyed the nativity performance and being on stage in church. The children have also finished their Geography unit deciding whether they would prefer to live in a hot or cold place. We wrote some creative writing pieces around 'Winter magic' and we have been working on our fitness in PE doing  a mini circuit of activities. As well as enjoying lots of our families in for showcase to come and see what we have been learning about this half-term.

Week 5 - This week we continued looking at money in maths finding different ways to make £1 and totals of amounts. We did some role play in English in the character of William and thinking about how he would have reacted to seeing the different tree sculptures and looking at the weather and climate in Geography. We have been practising our nativity in preparation for next week! We look forward to welcoming you into school.

Week 4 - This week finished writing our narrative settings in English. We focus on making amounts in different ways in maths and looked at the life cycles of some different animals in science.

Week 3 - This week we began our new maths topic about counting money. We tested the strength of materials in DT and enjoyed moving our bodies in PE as we continued our dance.

Week 2 - In English we immersed ourselves in the pictures from the book, thinking about what we could see, feel and hear. In computing we explored pointillism and we had various visits during Interfaith week as we discovered more about different faiths and beliefs.

Week 1 - This week we started our new English text called The Night Gardener.
