What a busy and exciting first week back in school!
In Maths, we have moved from addition to subtraction. The children have explored a range of strategies, including crossing out and using number lines to help them solve problems with growing confidence.
In English, we began our new text Rapunzel by Beth Woollvin. A mysterious spell book was delivered to our classroom this week, and Year 1 absolutely loved it! We’ve enjoyed ‘jumping into’ the story and can’t wait to see where Rapunzel’s adventures take us next.
In Science, we learned all about the five different animal families and worked hard to sort a range of animals into their correct groups.
For our first History lesson of the year, we thought about our own personal history. The children sequenced pictures of themselves onto a timeline to explore how they have grown and changed.
In PE, we kicked off our Team Building and Dance units, practising key skills through fun challenges and movement.
We have also started Otto Club. Otto Club focuses on three important areas: core skills, fine motor skills, and handwriting. This 10-week programme is designed to support children in developing strength, control, and confidence to help them improve their writing and everyday classroom tasks.
What an amazing start to the half term — well done, Year 1! 👏👏
