What a wonderful and busy week we have had in Year 1!

🎄 Nativity Practice
Our Nativity practises have been in full swing and the children have absolutely loved performing on the stage at Church. Their confidence is growing every day and we are so proud of how beautifully they are rehearsing.

🧠 PSHE – “It’s Not Fair”
In our PSHE lesson, we explored what fairness means and why fairness doesn’t always mean everyone gets the same. The children thought carefully about different situations and shared some fantastic ideas.

🔬 Science – Animal Diets
This week we learned about the different types of food animals eat. The class enjoyed sorting animals into carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and discussing how they know. Lots of brilliant scientific thinking!

✍️ English – Instructions from Rapunzel
On Monday, we received an exciting letter from Rapunzel! She told us she was relieved to be rid of the witch… but worried she may return. She asked Year 1 for help!
We have been writing instructions on how to trap a witch, using time words and bossy verbs. The children have impressed us with their imaginative ideas and growing confidence in instruction writing.

🙏 Worship – Community Christmas Cards
In Worship, we created Christmas cards for members of our local community – a lovely way to spread kindness this Advent season.

🎁 Christmas in the Classroom
We also had lots of festive fun decorating our class Christmas tree. The children were so excited to help make our classroom feel magical! Each day, they have loved finding out who will open our class advent calendars—lots of smiles and Christmas cheer all round.
