    This Week in Year 1

    Nativity
The children really impressed us during their three Nativity performances. They showed great confidence by knowing when to go on stage, where to stand and by remembering their lines. We are incredibly proud of the teamwork and effort they showed throughout all the performances.

    Enrichment Afternoon
Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a range of different enrichment activities. It was lovely to see the children working with different adults and spending time with children from other classes as they explored new interests and experiences.

    English
In English, the children have been planning and writing instructions on how to trap a witch. They focused on using clear steps, bossy words and time words to help their reader follow the instructions.

    Computing
During our Data Explorers unit, we created a class pictogram showing the different ways children travel to school. The children then inputted the class data onto a pictogram using Purple Mash, developing their understanding of data handling.

    Maths
In Maths, we have been focusing on Understanding 20. The children have been exploring numbers to 20, developing their confidence in counting, representing and comparing numbers.

    Illustrators
During Thursday's 'Stop & Read', Year 1 became illustrators. We listened to author and illustrator Daishu Ma read some of her story 'Tiger it's Snowing'. The children then enjoyed drawing her main character, the tiger, by following her instructions.
