Week 2

It has been another busy and exciting week in Year 6!

In English, we continued exploring our flashback narrative unit. Working in groups, we created freeze frames and short drama role plays to bring key moments of our story to life. This helped us to imagine how the characters might have felt as they travelled across the stormy sea. We also explored each character’s flashbacks to happier memories, which will inspire our own flashback narratives next week.

In Computing, we began planning our very own blogs on a range of topics that interest us. We discussed audience, purpose and layout, and we look forward to drafting and publishing them over the coming weeks.

In Science, we learned all about blood vessels and how blood travels through the body. We discovered why veins and arteries have different structures and investigated how the speed of liquid changes when it moves through different sized tubes. This practical inquiry helped us develop our working scientifically skills.

During PE, we continued our learning in hockey, focusing on controlling the ball under pressure. We practised dribbling, receiving the ball and taking shots at goal — some impressive skills emerging across the class!

Finally, in Design and Technology, we explored how to use fabric patterns and tried out different stitches as we begin designing our own tote bags. Threading the needle was a challenge for many of us, but we showed great perseverance!

Well done Year 6 for your enthusiasm and hard work. We are excited for another week of fantastic learning ahead!
