Week 2

What an exciting week we’ve had in Year 6!

We began with a very special Stay and Learn event. Thank you to all the grown-ups who came to visit! Our visitors enjoyed taking part in activity stations where the children proudly taught different skills based on our learning from before half term, including setting descriptions, writing a blog, sewing, dribbling a hockey ball, and more.

In English, we continued developing our discovery narratives, focusing on including dialogue to make our stories even more engaging.

In Maths, we extended our work on ratios to explore scale factors in shapes. The children learned how to draw enlargements and calculate unknown side lengths using scale factors.

In Science, we explored animal adaptations. We learned a fun song about camel adaptations and researched a variety of animals to find out how they are suited to their habitats. The children presented their findings through posters, mind maps, and explanation writing.

In Worship, we joined with Year 1 and Year 4 to reflect on the power of words. We discussed how kind words can lift others up and made a personal promise to share kind words with someone this week.

Well done, Year 6, for another week full of curiosity, creativity, and kindness!
