Week 5

We’ve had such a busy and exciting week in Year 6!

In Maths, we worked really hard on division, especially long division, and we’re getting better and better at it. In English, we learned about formal vocabulary and looked closely at a bravery speech to help us get ready to write our own about Rose Blanche.

In Science, we learned about micro-organisms and began an investigation into mould. We are comparing two slices of bread to see which conditions mould prefers to grow in. One slice was our control slice and the other we added some water to make it damp. We will observe the changes over the coming week. In Computing, we explored data and used 2Graph to make different graphs, like bar charts. In RE, we had an interesting discussion about persecuted Christians in North Korea. We talked about what persecution means and what faith means to people.

In Spelling, we played fun team games to practise our words – and we won lots of dojos! On Friday, we had Creative Writing with the theme “Weird and Wonderful Creatures.” We could write anything we wanted – stories, poems, diaries, reports – and we even added our own illustrations. Some of us enjoyed it so much we carried on writing at playtime! In Art, we edited our photographs from last week to recreate famous paintings like Girl with a Pearl Earring and The Scream. You can see some of our amazing photos below.

This week was also special because we won Class of the Week with 100% attendance! Our reward was extra playtime and yummy biscuits.

It’s been a fantastic week – well done Year 6! 🎉
