We’ve had another busy and exciting week in Year 1! Here’s a snap what we’ve been learning, day by day:
We explored Purple Mash and had a go at putting together some online jigsaws. Once we got the hang of it, we even challenged ourselves to make our own jigsaws! This helped us practise our problem-solving skills and perseverance.
This week we finished writing our very own versions of the story Old Bear. The children have worked incredibly hard with their handwriting and sentence writing. Miss Bryan has been blown away by the fantastic writing – well done, Year 1!
In Maths we continued our work on number bonds within 10. We focused on finding every possible way to make some of the numbers to 10 using a systematic approach. The children enjoyed spotting patterns and explaining how they knew they had found them all.
We walked over to church with our bottles to join Reverend Cathy for a special creative worship. Together we talked about creation and how special the earth is. We reflected on the Bible verse:
"I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars you set in place." (Psalm 8:3)
Afterwards, we used our bottles from home to make rockets and then launched them into the air – a truly memorable way to link our learning about God’s creation with a fun activity!
We were very lucky to welcome some special visitors – the chicks from Year 2! The children loved seeing how much they had grown and enjoyed spending time watching them up close.
π What a wonderful week of learning and exploring together. Well done, Year 1! π
