Meet the Team

Class Worship in Year 5:

Click on the link below to see what we have been doing in our Class Worship.

PE:

This year our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday. The children will need to come to school in their school PE kit. This must be a plain white t-shirt or our red school PE top with black bottoms such as leggings, shorts or joggers and a pair of trainers or black PE pumps.

Reading:

We read with children on a 1:1 basis in class and we also have daily Guided Reading sessions.  To support this, please could you read with your child for 10 minutes per day and then date and sign their reading record.  To promote home reading and encourage a love of reading, we will give out raffle tickets for each time a child reads at home.

Homework:

This year your child will be given a homework book and a 'talk token' will be stuck in their homework book and sent home every Friday. This is designed for you to talk about your child's learning with them at home. Please send their homework book back to school every Wednesday. This is so we have time to go through the homework and give them their raffle tickets. Children will receive a 'Homework Heroes' raffle ticket for completing the talk token at home and at the end of the half term, one lucky winner will be drawn at random for a treat!

Spellings are also an expectation of homework in Year 5. This year we will be sending home a spellings booklet for each half term, and we will be doing a weekly spelling check. This is to support and enhance their writing. Please support your child in learning their spellings and practising them each week.

Times tables:

Despite your child completing the multiplication tables check in Year 4, we would still like you to support us with at home by encouraging your children to practice their times tables regularly on TT Rockstars. There are many ways to learn times tables which could include reciting them, writing them down, listening to times tables songs etc. Your child will have allocated time to play on TT Rockstars in school each week but please encourage them to play on TT Rockstars at home as well as this is a fun way for them to learn! We also have weekly TT Rockstar competitions that your child can take part in and there will be certificates awarded to the most valuable players each week.
