This week we talked about how our seaside holidays have changed over the years.
Victorian Times:
(Questions for this week's talk token)
Why did people in Victorian times have to go on British holidays?
There were no planes to travel to other countries and using boats to go abroad was very expensive.
Why did people in Victorian times go the seaside fully clothed?
Sunbathing wasn't fashionable, sea bathing was done instead.
How were some beaches divided?
Some beaches were divided up into separate spaces for men and women.
Why were beaches a lot cleaner in Victorian times?
There were not as many packaged foods and snacks being eaten to create litter.
Where did women get changed?
Bathing Machines were carriages in which women would use to change into their bathing costumes.
Women would get into them and then a horse would pull it towards the sea. The women would be able to get in the water without being seen by others.
What did people in Victorian times enjoy doing at the seaside that we still enjoy today?
Eating ice cream and building sandcastles!

This half term we are making smoothies.
This week the children practised chopping the fruits using a knife and fork. They had to hold the fruit in place with their fork and chop using their table knife.
We tasted the fruits to see which we wanted in our smoothies. The children have to choose two fruits that we will be chopping.
The choices are:
bananas strawberries pineapple avacado
We had a go at juicing limes, lemons and oranges using the manual juicers.
The children will choose one of these fruits to juice and add to their smoothie next week.
