Week 1

Happy New Year!

It was lovely to welcome the children back into class this week.  They bounced into class with big smiles on their faces and ready for Spring 1!

This week we started our money unit in maths and the children have been doing lots of practical activities to practise recognising and counting coins and notes.

In English we read our new text, 'The man on the moon, a day in the life of Bob' which the children are thoroughly enjoying.  We've enjoyed watching space videos and this has also linked to our non fiction text in guided reading 'Fly me to the moon'.

We have been learning to recognise and write contractions in grammar and enjoyed working with a partner during our classroom contraction hunt!

In PE on Tuesday the children created their own secret garden dance and on Thursday have been practising their sending and receiving skills with Mrs Blackburn.

'Jesus' is the new topic in RE and the children created some lovely drawings to represent Jesus and the children.

In art we created our own wire superhero sculptures, they looked awesome!

It has only been a short week but it's been a busy week!
