Year 1 – Messy Maps!
Today in Geography, Year 1 became map-makers!
They explored the question: “What can we see in our classroom?” and worked in groups to create their very own 'messy maps'.
Using objects from around the room, the children represented classroom features such as tables, chairs and bookcases.
They thought carefully about what a bird’s eye view would look like and even began to use directional language (near, far, left, right, next to) to describe where things were placed.
The children loved this hands-on way of learning, and their maps were brilliant!
