Pupil Premium Grant

Pupil Premium Grant

The Pupil Premium Grant is money allocated to schools for pupils if they qualify under the following criteria:

  • those who have been in receipt of free school meals (FSM) at any point in the past 6 years (£1345 per child)
  • those who have been previously looked after, subject of a special guardianship order and/ or adopted from care (£2345 per child)
  • pupil premium plus children currently being looked after or in care (£2345 per child per school year -held by the LA Virtual School Head accessed via PEP return)
  • whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces (£310 per child)

The funding runs from April to March in that financial year. The analysis of impact will be made after final assessments in the summer term of that academic year.

In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged. Likewise, we also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantage are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil the school has legitimately identified as being vulnerable.

We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all the pupils, regardless of social standing or mobility and thus, we ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, including ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed. This enables all our of children to flourish and fulfil their potential.

Pupil Premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. Limited funding and resources means that not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium funded interventions at any one time.
