Week 1
We have loved being back in school this week after a well-deserved week off! We hope you all enjoyed half term as much as we did! We have got straight back into our routine and been very busy bees this week in school!
Star of the Week
This week our star of the week is Lola. She always gives 110% effort in every lesson, and has had a real focus on improving her writing this week, even writing her own story at home! Well done Lola!
Science
We are continuing our learning of everyday materials and this week we had a super fun lesson! We had to select different everyday materials that would be strong enough to protect the three little pigs against the big bad wolf. We had to use different materials to construct a house that could withstand the big bad wolf (Miss Whaley's hairdryer!). It was so much fun and 5 out of 6 houses survived!
History
We have started a new unit in History this week - Great Explorers. This week we spent some time researching what explorers do and some famous explorers from all over the world. We were lucky enough to work in small groups on the iPads and find out key facts about some explorers.
English
This half term we are learning how to write recounts. We have been engaging in lots different activities to familiarise ourselves with different events and occasions. We brought our own pictures in as a talk for writing stimulus, using our oracy skills we shared with the class where we went in our photo. We have sorted different occasions into groups, we have read 4 different example recounts, and we have started to look at the 6 big questions that need to be answered in a recount - who, what, when, where, how and why?
