Mrs Flanagan
Mrs Wilton teaches us on a Tuesday morning.
Mrs Hoyle is our teaching and learning assistant on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Miss Harry is our teaching and learning assistant on a Wednesday.
Mrs Flanagan comes to read with us every day and helps us at dinner time.
Our PE day in reception is a Tuesday. The children should come to school dressed in their PE kits. Mrs Wilton will be teaching PE in Reception.
On PE days, children should wear: a plain white t shirt, plain black shorts/leggings or tracksuit bottoms and plain black trainers. School branded PE kits are available to purchase through the office but this is not compulsory.
Each child will receive a homework book which will contain our weekly talk tokens and any other activities to complete at home. These will be given on a Friday and checked the following Friday.
Talk Tokens
The talk tokens will contain a summary of the learning and activities which have taken place in Reception class that week, along with some discussion points for grown ups at home to talk to their children about. The children are not required to write a response to the questions. We ask that you sign the talk token to show that you have discussed your child's learning with them, and if you wish, you can write your child's responses or thoughts. If your child wants to draw anything as a response then they are more than welcome to do so!
The idea behind this is to promote oracy and communication skills for our children, along with sharing your child's learning with you, as we know when you ask your children what they have been doing at school, they usually say "Nothing!"
The talk token may also include some activity ideas to further your child's learning, linked to our playing and learning at school, however this is not compulsory. We always love to see photos, pictures and writing from activities at home but we won't be 'checking' to see who has or hasn't done any suggested activities.
Reading
Your child will receive their very own reading record which we ask you to sign or write a comment in when you read with your child at home. We ask that you read often with your child at home, ideally every night. A short 5-10 minutes per night is much more effective than a longer session less often.
Your child will bring two books home, one which matches their current phonics learning (a book to read) and another book which is for you to read to your child or together (a book to share). You do not need to record when you have read your book to share in the reading record, it is provided so you can enjoy reading for fun at home together.
To begin with, we will aim to change your child's reading book weekly. Please send your child's book bag to school every day so we can read 1:1 with your child at school as often as we can. This will be at least once a week.
