Week 3

Week 3

This week we have had a very busy week in Year 1! Lots of practical activities, and a very fun week with a visitor and a day filled with fancy dress and books! Take a look at what we've been up to!

Star of the Week

This week our star of the week is Layla-Grace. She has been working so hard on her phonics and reading at the moment, and has blown us away this week. Especially reading aloud and building her confidence in shared reading! Well done Layla, keep it up!

Class Pet - Hazel (PSHE)

This week we had a very special visitor in Year 1 class. Hazel the rabbit came to stay in our classroom on Thursday and Friday. We had been learning about responsibilities in PSHE and what skills and different roles we would need to look after a pet in class. We gave her food, a new bed of hay, filled up her water bottle, and took great care of Hazel. We loved having her that much that we have even asked Mrs Tindall for a class pet!

World Book Day

On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day 2024 by coming into school dressed as a WOW word. We made a huge effort in Year 1 and our teachers were super impressed with our costumes!

We enjoyed lots of free reading time, buddy reading, book activities, poem writing, poetry reciting and a great end of the day assembly led by our amazing oracy pupil voice group.

We were also lucky enough to have Mrs Tindall read to us during our stop and read session!
