Week 5

This week has been a little bit different for us in Year 1. It has been a very busy week with lots of different jobs. We have been over in Church to practice for our Nativity performance, but we have also been working hard completing our Autumn assessments! 

Star of the Week

This week our star of the week is Harley. He could definitely get this blue jumper each week as he is just an all round superstar. His positive attitude to learning is amazing and he is so kind and caring. Well done Harley.

Christmas Classroom

On Friday we came into our classroom and it had a magical Christmas tree, three elves, two chocolate advent calendars and a book-vent calendar. We are so lucky to have three cheeky elves in our classroom until the Christmas holidays! We also got to colour in a photo of the elves to go up by our tree! We are very excited to unwrap one book each day for our stop and read sessions! We are definitely getting into the festive spirit in Year 1!

Art

This week we have learnt how to mix two primary colours to make a secondary colour. We mixed blue and yellow to make green. However. we used different shades and amounts of blue and yellow to create six different shades of green. We then put these onto an outline of our hand, using all of the different shades that we had created.

RE

This week in RE we have been exploring the order of the Christmas story. We created a storyboard to represent the Nativity story and then in groups we made a nativity scene using different materials such as lego, play dough, cubes and bricks.
