Enrichment Afternoon 22nd May
The third and final enrichment afternoon is taking place next Wednesday. We have an array of activities on offer including; Cookstars, Shakespeare Sisters, STEM challenges and a journalist to name but a few.
Today we had the 3rd Enrichment Afternoon of the year. It was the best one so far and the children and staff really enjoyed the afternoon.
We had just under 20 activities on offer. Many groups worked on projects on the yard to try and improve our outdoor learning area. Thank you to all the children and their families for collecting bottles of recycled plastic; this was used to create a bedding area made in the shape of the school badge.
One group created a bug hotel and as you can see from the photos, it’s 5 star accommodation for those bugs! Another group worked outside to create tyre planters. One had a herb theme, one was created using shrubs and the final tyre creation was based on sensory plants. The lavender smells amazing and as soon as we planted it, we had a bee visit. Another of the groups outside spent the afternoon designing and making beautiful bird houses which will be placed in the school grounds.
At church we had a group working with Cookstars to make tiramisu! It looked delicious. Some children spent the afternoon learning sign language. Another group worked with the drama company Shakespeare Sisters to take part in a short drama production.
Back in school, we had children working with a journalist and they spent the afternoon interviewing all the children and staff. Watch out for their report!
A french cafe session was held where children tasted various food and created art work. Another session focused on STEM challenges. Some children got to create t-shirts to take home.
The hall was busy with a dodgeball competition. The nurture room played host to a session where the children got to make and then enjoy afternoon tea.
JAM coding held a session that allowed children to create their own computers. One of the groups created and then produced a puppet show with their sock puppets.
We also had a few children walk down to a local cafe and enjoy a tasty treat of sausage and toast. They ordered and paid for it by themselves.
