Y5 finished their pop-up books then enjoyed sharing them with their reception class buddies.
Geography
On Tuesday afternoon, we went out to make tally charts of all the human and geographical features in our local area. The children also looked at the River Darwen and how, as the river moved downhill it got larger and meandered through the woodland as it made it's way through Lower Darwen.
Miss Smith and Mrs Hudson were extremely proud of the children's teamwork. They were all making sure that everyone got down hills and paths, which were extremely muddy and slippery.
Creative Worship
On Thursday, Y5 and their reception buddies took part in creative worship together. The children found out about and celebrated their differences. Everybody had a lovely time.
English
Y5 have created some brilliant information texts this week. First they completed their shared write which was all about rivers (our geography topic this half term). Then they created their independent write which was all about space (our science topic this half term).
R.E
For our oracy outcome this half term the children made a podcast about Jesus. The children took it in turns to be Jesus while other children asked him interesting questions. They did a great job! Some of the videos are below.
On Thursday afternoon, after school. Parents, carers and siblings were invited to come into the classroom and look at the children's work.
The feedback received from families was very complimentary and everyone was pleased with the work the students had produced. The families could not believe how many books the children had gone through since the beginning of the year, and commented that they must be producing lots of work!
Well done everyone, be proud of yourselves, you have all worked so hard this year and it shows in your books.
We have a new piece of positive attitude artwork in our classroom. The children were surprised to find it on the blackboard on Thursday...Mrs Hudson has been busy making our classroom look beautiful again!
New books!
The SOLs group raised money to buy new books for each class. Some of the children have chosen to take these books home to enjoy over the holiday.
Enjoy your week off Y5! You have all blown Miss Smith and Mrs Hudson away with your hard work and effort to learn this half term. Stay safe and we will see you soon.
