Week 2

Week 2

(scroll down for pictures)

We have had a great week again in Year 3.

The children have done a shared write biography all about Roald Dahl. They have really enjoyed this and have worked really hard.

We have built upon our addition and subtraction skills even more, learning how to exchange when subtracting 3 digit numbers. I have been really proud of the children's perseverance as we have worked on this.

We have started our art unit of learning which is Prehistoric Art. The children looked at some photos of cave paintings and discussed why Stone Age people featured animals in so much of their artwork. The class used big 2D shapes to sketch out the basic shape of some current British wildlife animals and then added detail. They went over this with a black marker to make it stand out.

We continued our learning about earthquakes through some very grown up, complex data analysis! We looked at a table of information which showed earthquakes in New Zealand which were over 6.0 on the Richter Scale. We worked out the average number of years between each earthquake and used this information to predict the year of the next one.

In our science lesson we looked at food packaging and nutritional information. The children really enjoyed this. We discussed the traffic light colour coding on the packaging and what it means.

The children have continued with their dance and basketball learning in PE and are thoroughly enjoying it.

That's all for this week!
