Week 2

Week 2

This week we have been working so hard, and had lots of different learning opportunities. We have been working on the SKAT 'I can have a go' to support us in becoming more independent learners using our working walls, phonics mats and word mat visuals. We have really impressed the adults in Year 1 with our attitude to learning this week!

Star of the Week

This week our star of the week is William. He is such a superstar to have in our class, and he never fails to make everybody laugh. He has been trying so hard in all lessons, and especially working hard with Mrs Hoyle on his speech sounds and phonics. Well done William!

Science

As part of our science learning, linking to the five senses, we went on an Autumn Trail in our local area. We walked down Stopes Brow, and into Highercroft Woods. We were thinking about what we could smell, see, feel, hear and taste. We admired the beautiful nature and looked for insects whilst we were in the woods linking to our topic of animals including humans. We really enjoyed taking our learning outside of the classroom.

Computing

This week we practised logging on to the laptops independently using our personal log in and purple mash log in cards. We could navigate the cursor and use the keyboard correctly.

English

This week we painted our very own Zog character to spark our writing. We drew the outline onto a piece of cardboard, and then began to paint them using orange and yellow colours. We have even put them up on display in our classroom!
