Week 4
What a super week we have had this week in Year1. We have worked our socks off this week, even when practising for our nativity performance. We are definitely super excited for Christmas in our class already!
Star of the Week
This week our star of the week is Nellie. She has been working so hard this week both at school and at home. Nellie always makes everybody smile in class with her amazing contributions and kindness. Nellie could be awarded this every single week for her attitude to learning. Well done Nellie!
Art
This week we used lots of different media to create prints using primary coloured paint. We used lego, stickle bricks, interstar rings, cubes and duplo blocks to create our own prints. We loved working in our art sketchbooks, and we loved being creative.
Science
We looked at the different seasons and identified which months are in which season. We also identified what the weather is like in each of the four seasons, and worked out which season our birthday falls in.
English
This week we ended our Zog unit by completing our very first independent write. We blew Miss Whaley away with some of our sentences. We wrote three sentences independently from memory about our own innovated character in the style of Zog, using the same repetitive pattern.
Maths
This week we moved on to our Shape unit of learning. We have been able to name, recognise and sort 2D shapes. We are now experts in identifying triangles, circles, squares and rectangles. We looked carefully at the difference between a square and a rectangle as they both have 4 sides. Can you remember the difference?
