Week 6

This week in Year 5, the children have been busy  in Science, discovering the properties of materials. How materials that are mixed together can be filtered, sieved, evaporated and dissolved to separate them.

The experiments this week involved sieving gravel and sand, which the children separated with colanders. Flour and tiny stones, which had to sieved. The children then dissolved sugar in cold and warm water.

In English, the class began learning about persuasive text and literature. They were tasked with reading through different examples and finding if there was anything that linked the pieces.

The class learned about rhetorical questions, alliteration and how colour and pictures can make text more appealing.

This research will help them when writing their own piece of work.
